Evelyn Gray’s Omega status is not enough to add to her miserable life. Nobody knows her original pack, and she also can’t smell her wolf. These things make her susceptible to rogue attacks.
The Unwanted Mate Episode 1 starts by telling Evelyn that she is on her hopeless way to escape the forest from the rogue attacks. Suddenly, an arrow hit one of the attacking rogues. A commanding voice known to belong to Alpha Kieran Winter, the Alpha of the Shadow pack, comforts Evelyn as the Alpha’s guys take Evelyn to the packhouse.
Yet, Alpha Kieran is not the most gentle or sensitive werewolf. He doesn’t tolerate weakness. So, when he smells Evelyn, he is so furious with the Moon Goddess that the Goddess jokes on him. Evelyn is an Omega, and he could never understand why the Goddess would pair him with someone as weak as Evelyn.
Alpha Kieran dates Naomi, another Alpha werewolf, from the Blue Moon pack, when he realizes he is Evelyn’s mate. At the same time, Kieran’s wishes to please his mom lead him to forcefully marry Evelyn a.k.a. The Unwanted Mate.
Kieran and Naomi aren’t the only ones displeased with Evelyn as the Shadow pack’s newly-appointed Luna. Some Shadow pack members, such as Beta Beth, also disapprove of Evelyn. So, they pose some series of challenges that Evelyn should conquer before they accept her as their Luna.
Some other Shadow pack members are friendly to Evelyn, including Josh, Kieran’s Beta. Josh is the first guy after Kieran to show interest and chivalry towards Evelyn. Other guys, such as Rain, a fellow Omega, also follow suit in showing their love to Evelyn.
No matter how much Alpha Kieran tries to deny his feelings for Evelyn, he can’t help but feel jealous of the guys’ attention to her! The problem: Will Alpha Kieran get rid of that Naomi girl? Also, who will Kieran and Evelyn choose?

Werewolves’ family-oriented, hierarchical, and hot-blooded nature doesn’t only align with their supernatural powers in creating dark romance stories. Elements related to werewolf-verses, such as the mating bond, the closeness to the human world, and the physical training, also add more attractive flairs to the movie.
Indeed, the settings for The Unwanted Mate have some ethereal touches to the designs. One of the pictures in Ashley Michelle Grant (the lead cast) even features the forest in Episode 1. Yet, settings alone are not enough to applaud or recommend a movie.
The love triangle is one of the most beautiful things to watch in The Unwanted Mate. We usually see a main female antagonist continually making scenes through the movie’s episodes. While it also applies to the vain and coquettish Alpha Naomi, other male characters’ presence in Evelyn’s life, such as Beta Josh and Omega Rain, also spice up the romances in this story.
Even though “the challenges” from Alpha Naomi, Beta Beth, and the gangs, sound like the conflicts or climaxes, the phrase needs to be clearer. Physical as werewolves’ nature might be, “the challenges” can also point to mental and emotional challenges, as long as there are no clear definitions of them.
The unclear ways of defining “the challenge” somewhat lowers the overall ratings for The Unwanted Mate. It is unfortunate, after all, that The Unwanted Mate should be one step closer to a masterpiece.
Alternative Movie
Evelyn Gray shines the most in The Unwanted Mate movie, even though she is not the only main cast. It is because Ashley Michelle Grant, the actress behind Evelyn’s appearance, has distinctive facial features and gazes.
So, do you enjoy Ashley’s roles when she defends herself against the Alpha’s wrath, grits her teeth upon the unclear challenges that Beta Beth poses, and shows her dancing prowess with Josh (and later, Kieran)? You might want to see another movie on ReelShort, Married For Green Card, Stayed For Love.
The title speaks volumes for the relatability to US people’s lives. You can even see Ashley’s face as Leslie Maddison, a woman struggling to keep her US work visa while supporting her sick grandmother. She is on the verge of being deported in 60 days if she can’t keep her visa. Leslie’s uncooperative significant other, David, doesn’t show her any concerns.
Instead, David throws Leslie away from his apartment. A wealthy CEO named Simon Williams appears from his car to thank Leslie for saving his brother’s life a few years ago. Now, David is the one who gets kicked out!
