The Harland family were quickly driven into shock when they heard the news, and as they ran out to find out what happened, of course, they saw Madison on the ground with Emma as well while Madison cried and complained that Emma pushed her and tried to kill her baby.
Right there while Emma was trying to explain that she was innocent, John Harland, Emma’s grandfather-in-law declared that her marriage with his grandson James had come to an end.

James was a handsome man, and the CEO of Harland Group, but he obviously did not have it in him to be a decent leader because he could not even tell between who was telling the truth and who was telling a lie between Emma, his wife, and Madison, his step-sister who wanted him to herself.
James Harland was Emma Peterson’s husband, and in the movie, it would be easy for the viewers to see just how confused he was about Emma. The truth was that James liked Emma, but the pressure from his family made him act differently towards her.
Emma, on countless occasions, reprimanded James, asking him why he did not trust her even though she was his wife.
James swore that Emma would regret it when she decided to divorce him instead of begging him to ask his grandfather not to chase her from the Harland family. If only he knew that she was a wealthy billionaire heiress.
John Harland

Emma was married to James Harland, whom she met while she was abroad studying art. Her father, Garry Winston, had sent Emma abroad to study, but when she got there, she declined returning home after studying, and settled down in the Harland family to become James Harland’s wife, whom she claimed to be in love with.
While Emma was James’ wife, she suffered a great deal. The Harland family did not like her at all and considered her to be a poor lady. After all, they could not trace her back to where she was from, so since they were a family of the elite class, they assumed that Emma was poor and had gotten married to James for his money.
Emma had to divorce James after she was set up by Madison, James’ sister-in-law, whom the Harland family thought should have gotten married to James instead of Emma.
Madison threw herself down the stairs and claimed that it was Emma that had tried to kill her baby because she was jealous, and that was how John Harland, Janes’ grandfather declared that Emma and James’ marriage was over.
Emma, as a result of the embarrassment and humiliation, could not take it anymore so she decided to make it official by divorcing James. She returned to her family, the Winston family, who welcomed her back with open arms, asking her to move in back to the family and forget totally about the Harland family.
Emma would have moved on, if not for the fact that the Harland family were suing her, claiming that she caused Madison’s miscarriage. Emma decided to revenge in that case.
